Faith In God

Everyone asks these basic questions…. what’s my purpose? Am I loved? Is there Hope?
Why Should I Bother with Faith in God?

Why should I bother with faith in God?

Everyone asks these basic questions…. what’s my purpose? Am I loved? Is there Hope?

God provides the answers to these questions and more. You were created by an almighty God who sees you, knows you, and loves you more than you’ll ever know. He created you because He wants to have a relationship with you.

We live in a broken world that is full of people who make selfish and painful choices that affect others. God promises to guide you, love you, and use every single thing you go through to make you a better person. God can and will fill every need you have and bring you to a place of peace, hope, and joy that nothing else can take from you.

“Religion says, ‘I obey, therefore I am accepted.’ Christianity says, ‘I’m accepted, therefore I obey.’”
~Timothy Keller

What does it mean to be a Christian?

There are a million and one opportunities to better yourself, find peace, deal with life’s pain and confusion. You might often ask, Why God? God is personally interested in every single person. He loves everyone and He is wooing you as we speak. He can offer this because he paid for every single indiscretion through his death on the cross. But not only that, he literally defeated death and is sitting at the right-hand of God as a victor. He took your place. God is the only one who sees you exactly how you are, loves you exactly how you are, but addresses the brokenness inside. He is the only one who offers to take your pain and confusion and replace it with hope and peace. Will you give him a chance to show you what that means?

1. It is a broken world...

“For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.” Romans 8:22 (ESV),

“None is righteous, no, not one: no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3:10b-12 (ESV)

2. God loves us enough...

…to declare us not guilty, to restore us and call us his children.

“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 (NLT).

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 (NLT)

3. There is a difference ...

…between asking God to save your soul and allowing Him to be the Lord of your life.

When we confess our sins and accept Christ’s sacrifice, we are accepted into his family for all of eternity. But the abundant life comes when we literally allow the Holy Spirit to guide our every step; when we allow Jesus Christ to be the Lord of our lives.

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” Romans 8:14 (ESV),

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

4. Living a life of faith is a daily journey...

… that involves dying to your own selfish desires every day… sometimes even minute by minute. God gives you the strength and power to follow Him, trust Him more each day, and find the hope that leads to an abundant life.
“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24 (ESV),
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 (ESV)

5. There is no better place to be ...

…than in the presence of God. You can have that for the rest of this life and even after this life is over. Call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved.

“For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” Romans 10:13,

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29 (NLT).

6. It won’t be easy...

….but it will be worth it.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (ESV),

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 (ESV),

“Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)
